We did a risk assessment on our music video, to show we have considered all the potential pitfalls whilst making our video.
One thing that we have to be careful of is when guy number 2 is jumping around trying to put on his trousers.
Also we have to be careful when the guys are jumping in celebration. If they trip and fall then it could be an issue.
We are filming in a park and so we need to be careful of getting in the way of other people and their children as they are public spaces, and also we need to bear in mind whilst we are outside, it'll be pretty cold due to the time of year. Therefore we need to make sure our actors and ourselves stay warm.
We need to be respectful of the people who own the houses that we are filming in as it is their house.

Our Current "To Do" List
So far, we have made good progress on planning out our music video. The first draft of it needs to be in in a few weeks time, so we still need to keep working hard.
Our most outstanding task at the moment is to choose who is going to be the actors for the characters in the film. So far we have 2 potential guys, and we will create a post about that in the not too distant future. It is vital we have it sorted by the end of next week at the very latest though.
Later on today, I will be finishing our storyboard animatic, and uploading it onto this blog. Here is a screen grab of it so far...
To finish it, I need to upload the song onto my school account, and then put it onto the animatic file. Then I will be able to work out where each shot starts and finishs. To get the song onto the school account, I'll be using my USB stick that I can plug a memory card into the back of. I have Accidentally In Love on my phone memory card, so all I have to do is copy the file into my documents.
Lastly, its important that we finish our location scouting by the end of next week as well. We have had a look at park locations so far, and uploaded those photos (see older post). We still need to choose the houses for the inside shots, and then we shall be done on that score.

Counting Crows

The band comes from San Franisco bay area, and is made up of:

Synopsis
Our music video starts of with four boys waking up and getting out of bed, and the following sequence involves them getting ready and leaving their respective houses and meeting up. It then becomes apparent that these four boys are trying to win over this girl, who is introduced in the next part of the video. The four boys who are posing are the "band", which can be broken down into parts (see other posts), and the girl is merely in for the purpose of a narrative.
The four guys see the girl and then run after her. Each one pops there head around the wall and then they push guy number 1 out to give her the flowers but she refuses and things similar to this keeps happening with other objects like an ice cream and a phone untill towards the end when she starts to warm up to them, and then she invites them into her house and at the very end she goes off with guy number 1.
In between there are a number of shots with just the singer singing and some shots of one of the guys playing the guitars. There is also an alarm clock which rings at the beginning and you see it throughout the music video and different times to show the day progressing.
The four guys see the girl and then run after her. Each one pops there head around the wall and then they push guy number 1 out to give her the flowers but she refuses and things similar to this keeps happening with other objects like an ice cream and a phone untill towards the end when she starts to warm up to them, and then she invites them into her house and at the very end she goes off with guy number 1.

Location Scouting
Places we need for our video-
- 4 houses ( 4 bedrooms/ front doors)
- Park (swings, bench etc)
- Somewhere to do the shots around the wall (near the start)
- Girls house (front door, lounge).
This shot is of one of the benches in the first park we looked at. It isn't really a suitable location because as the photo shows, it is in the shade and this will affect the shot quality. Also, the background is of iron railings and houses, which is a bit ugly, and doesn't fit in with what we want to achieve.
This picture shows the view in the other direction of the bench in the photo above. It adds to the shade problem, because we can't really avoid it there.
This shot is just of what kind of things there are in the park. The biggest problem is that there aren't any swings in this park, which means we'd have to change park in various shots. This would ruin the continuity however.
This is another bench in the same park. This is better than the other as the background around the bench is much better to look at, if you get the right angle. However, it still suffers from the shade issue.
This shot is basically just to show the things that are in this park that we could use if we choose to film there. Biggest issue is the lack of swings.
Next we went to another park, and this one did have swings. The issue with these ones is the background is a bit ugly, but it could be avoided with a good camera angle.
This is the swings again from the other side, which has a much better view in the background, and is worth serious consideration for our location to film.

Character Profiles
Our band name is Articulation.
In our music video, we will have five main characters. This is a breakdown of each of their roles within the video. All of the characters fit in the upper end of the target market group for our video (11-19).
Male character one: Jack Taylor
This character is the first member of the band. He acts as the leader, and also does the singing in the performance parts of the video. It is shown that he is the leader of the group in such situations like when the other three push him out from behind the wall to go up to the female character, and present her with flowers. He trys to act confident, but ends up making a fool of himself.
Male character two: Jonathan Briars
This character is the guitarist in the band, and also features a lot in the performance part of the video. In the narrative part of the video however, he and the other two band members all feature equally.
Male characters three and four: Mark Bramford and Paul Daulby
These two characters are the other two members of the band, and as stated above, feature equally in the narrative parts of the video. They don't appear in the performance areas however, because mainly due to our restrictions on instruments, and there isn't enough to go around. This is subject to change, depending on if we get any other instruments (bass guitar and drums preferably). These two characters generally follow the other two around, and do as they do.

This character is the one that the band is trying to impress and win over. She fits into the "popular teenager" type of appearance, through use of clothes and mannerisms. She starts the video as totally unimpressed with the guys efforts to win her over, but gradually is shown to come round and eventually chooses the leader (male character one).

We think that Jack has the right kind of look for our music video. He generally dresses how we want him to anyway, and has the right kind of appearance facially.
Paul Daulby
Jonathan Briars
As with Paul, Jono would be better as character three or four, because he isn't very well versed with the lyrics of the song. Another factor is he is busy often, and as three and four are in less shots than one and two, it requires less of his time.
Mark Bramford
Andy Hall
We decided against using Andy for our video, seeing as his appearance lends itself more to a heavier rock style song. Also he struggles to be able to do the lip syncing, so its a waste of time to get him up to speed.
Girl:
Alison Binyon
For Alison, our plan is to use her as first choice for our female character. She fits comfortably in the middle of our target audience range, and has the correct image for our video. All that we need to do is dress her according and she will be perfect.
